wish thisduo could've stayed healthy. 09 was their year
Hot takebut I think I’d take TMac and Yao healthy that year over Kobe and Pau

I don’tthink that’s such a hot take. It was an insanely close series
Definitely, and had Yao played the whole series they might have taken it. Aaron freakingBrooks was their best player and they still managed to take the champs to 7

AaronBrooks was annoyingly good that year. Got to the rim on demand.

DerekFisher will do that for you

he was soatrociously bad on defense in that series, good lord.

He can'tguard quick PGs at all. So anybody who has a decent PG would toast LA in RSmatchups.

The duosyou mentioned were closer to being a wash. But Ron Artest was the differencemaker. I liked that 08-09 rockets team before yao and tmac went down.

It’s ashame injuries cost Yao his best years, he easily would have been a top 50ishplayer of all time without them.
I alwaysbelieved he could’ve been a top 3 center
when youlook at head to heads, yao DESTROYED dwight howard in dwight's prime

withFACTS and LOGIC though?
Here yougo. Game by game stats. Averages. W-L
回复：Wizardshellothere22260 points·6 hours ago
Damn Ididn’t think it was this bad.
yeah, i'ma little surprised too. i didn't recall it being THAT bad.
my firstcomment was destroyed dwight. it's more like yao made it look likeshawn bradley guarding shaquille o neal... totally different tier
Doesn’tit makes sense tho? Dwight’s game was predicated on physically punishingcenters. He wouldn’t be able to do that against Yao

Funnydude and incredibly talented. Without injuries to Yao, the NBA's history wouldhave a very different look.

Yao isdefinitely on the all-time international sweetheart list. Dirk is anotherobvious one and I would probably throw Zydrunas on there as a homer pick.

Yao'spersonality and IQ presented in daily work and.life is often overlooked, andIMO that's one of the contrbuting factors he was successful in NBA (besides theinjuries). There had been Wang Zhizhi and there would be Yi, both failed toreach their ceilings due to various reasons, among them failing to truly adaptto American's culture and life is a crucial one. Both are just not ascharismatic or ''bright'' as Yao.
Yao wasdifferent. He first picked up English extremely fast (he is definitely gifted),and quickly had a grab the American sense of humor and became adept at which isone of the significant barriers for Chinese or most Asians. Imagine back then, there's no r/nba teaching him how to think or behave, but hehandled all the interviews, all star appearances well amongst doubts and evendespise. There's so little marked trails he could follow, he traversed it thruhimself.
And lookat him now, after a decade in the US, he masterfully stepped into Chinesbasketball fairs and politics which is not drastically different than that ofUS but also extremely beauracratic. He is bounded to be successful at whateverhe does, except maybe his wine business lol
